Survey Of Common Plastic Surgery Practices In Arkansas

jewellery asked:

The most popular Arkansas plastic surgery procedures are rhytidectomy operations (face lifts), nose jobs (rhinoplasty), abdominoplasty (tummy tucks), liposuction and breast implants or augmentations. If you’re an Arkansas resident and want more information about these five common procedures, keep reading.

Breast Enhancement or Implants

Breast enhancement, also known as breast augmentation, is a fairly major surgical operation that is designed to improve the overall shape, size or appearance of the patient’s breast. The operation is permanent, but also reversible and is an extremely popular Arkansas plastic surgery procedure.

Liposuction Procedure

Liposuction works by targeting a specific area of fat deposits on the patient’s body. It’s most effective on patients who are already at an average body weight but simply wish to perfect or minimize a pinpointed area of their body.

Liposuction is a fairly invasive surgical procedure and is typically performed under general anesthesia. First, your doctor marks the area to be treated, makes a small incision and then inserts a long needle just under the skin. The fat deposits are then scraped off the underside of the skin and suctioned out.

Tummy Tucks

Tummy tucks, clinically referred to as abdominoplasty surgeries, are the fastest growing Arkansas plastic surgery operation. Over 8000 tummy tucks were performed in Arkansas last year and the fastest growing sector of patients were men in their mid-to-late 30s.

The goal of a tummy tuck is to eliminate excess skin and fat in the abdominal area and tighten the existing muscles. The procedure can modify an existing body shape or be a great solution for a post-pregnancy mother or post-weight-loss patient with excess skin around the abdominal area.

Rhinoplasty Surgery

Rhinoplasty is the clinical term for a “nose job.” Arkansas plastic surgery practitioners typically take between 1 to 2 hours to perform this permanent surgical procedure. The goal of a rhinoplasty is to improve the appearance of the nose by either reducing its size or improving its shape.

The average Arkansas plastic surgery patient needs about 1 to 2 weeks to recover visibly from a nose job. That said, the internal bruising and some external swelling won’t fully diminish until approximately 4 to 6 months after the surgery.

Face Lift

More commonly known as a face lift, the rhytidectomy is a complex procedure that can be done in a wide variety of styles and patients. Because the surgery has an extended period of recovery, most Arkansas plastic surgery patients take at least 4 weeks before making any public appearances at work or social events.

Most Arkansas plastic surgery patients seek out a face lift to improve loose skin, deep lines, jowls, sagging chins or basic wrinkles.

Despite the increasing popularity and apparent glamor underlying plastic surgery results, the prospect of getting any type of voluntary surgical procedure makes for a serious decision – one that you should never take lightly. Though the long-term benefits normally outweigh the risks, down time, and expense, any time you go under the knife should be done with due caution and wise medical consulation ahead of time.

Cosmetic Surgery Procedures: Double Chin Surgery

admin asked:

For many, weight gain and having an unhealthy weight is not uncommon. Many seek out ways to lower their weight, alter their image, and ways to become healthier. Keeping an optimal weight is of course vital if we wish to remain healthy overall. For some, overall weight is not necessarily as much of an issue however, and some seek out treatments to alter the appearance of the weight in localized areas of the body.

Seeking out double chin reduction has become a popular venture for those looking to alter the appearance of the face. Holding extra weight under the face can feel uncomfortable and for some, it occurs even when the overall body weight is at an optimal level. For those who are looking for ways to alter their weight in addition to procedures such as chin surgery, it is best to evaluate one’s weight first, implementing whatever actions that may help to lose weight. That is, starting a new lifestyle diet and a new fitness routine is important. Becoming committed to losing weight is a far better plan before one undergoes any sort of surgical treatment. Weight reduction is specific areas of the body can be performed but is not a permanent solution. If holding extra weight in the chin area is not genetic, then it is a good idea to look into losing that weight prior, and adjusting any lifestyle habits that may contribute to its return should surgery be performed. Locate a plastic surgeon who you can trust and who is experienced in the specific procedure being performed. It is always a good idea to ask plenty of questions and to have lengthy discussions with plastic surgeons prior to a double chin reduction.

It is always a good idea to get a clear understanding of any financial commitment involved as well since most health insurance providers will not cover cosmetic procedures that are not associated with any medical need. Cosmetic Surgery – the Facelift Explained

admin asked:

The “A” word is dreaded by all but the most grounded and mentally balanced of us and is of course something we simply cannot get away from, but is aging really all that bad when you can do something about it?

As we age, our skin loses it’s elasticity through a combination of sun damage, genetic programming and many other environmental factors such as smoking (which rapidly ages skin) and weight loss.

There are some non surgical solutions that can help if damage is minimal such as chemical peels and laser treatment which help to resurface the skin. If you really want to turn back the clock though, you’ll need to consider cosmetic surgery and, in particular, a facelift. Just what does this procedure involve and how can you be sure you receive only the best treatment? These are some of the questions asked by the majority of people considering going under the knife and the answer to both is simple; look for an accredited surgeon. There are 2 main associations in the UK whose members are fully qualified and experienced surgeons; BAAPS (The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons) and BAPRAS (British Association of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons).

These Associations advise you to consult with an accredited cosmetic surgeon when thinking of undergoing any cosmetic surgery procedure who will give you all the relevant advice you need and ask you to undergo some simple health checks. You will have all risks explained to you and be asked to sign a consent form should you go ahead with the procedure.

BAPRAS describes a facelift procedure as taking place under a general anaesthetic, during which time you will have an incision made that runs through your hairline and down in front of the ears before following round and behind. This will allow the surgeon to peel away the skin from the muscles of your face and trim and tighten it, removing excess in the process.

The recovery is expected to take several weeks in full with much of the initial pain and bruising subsiding in the first few weeks. Eating may be painful at first but everything should return to normal after a few weeks and it is advisable to take a couple of weeks off work to allow for this to happen.

If you are considering cosmetic surgery make sure you search for an accredited surgeon. This will guarantee that any plastic surgery procedure you undergo such as facelift surgery runs smoothly and without incident.

Sticking to Your Surgery Plan

jewellery asked:

It’s been said many times now that undergoing plastic or cosmetic surgery should not be taken lightly. Plastic surgery has many risks and dangers involved if we’re not too careful in approaching it. To avoid any unfavorable circumstances and results, it is strongly recommended that you stick to your surgery plan all throughout the process.

When you’ve worked out what kind of surgery you would like to undergo, the next step would be to choose your surgeon. Choosing your surgeon is a very important process when you want to have a surgery. You have to find a surgeon that you can trust and rely on, someone you know can do a great job with your surgery. It doesn’t matter if finding the right surgeon takes so long. You should be careful in your selection because plastic surgery is a heavy decision.

In choosing your surgeon, you first go through recommendations and lists of the popular surgeons in your area. You can focus among the surgeons that your friends and relatives have recommended to you in order to narrow down your prospects. Ask those who have gone under the knife about their opinions on their surgeons.

It would be best if, after asking about the surgeons from their customers’ point of view, you go and visit the surgeons yourself. As you go for a consultation, observe the surgeon’s attitude and manners towards you, the other customers, and his/her staff. Determine whether he really cares about your surgery plan if he’s just all about selling his expertise and taking in as many customers as he/she can.

Be wary if the surgeon gives out or suggests more than what you ask for. It could be that he or she is pressuring you to avail more of their surgical services that you really do not need. Choose a surgeon who you can see cares about what you want and what is helpful for your condition, rather than one who is all about promoting his services and clinic and says less about you.

Take a good look at the surgeon’s clinic and staff, too, and ask questions about their prices, equipment, and other relevant things. Ask why their prices are lower or higher than others, how many of the staff help out with the surgery, etc. If you can, try to ask if you can see their operating room and see if the environment is satisfactory for you.

When you’ve finally chosen your surgeon, take some time before your scheduled surgery to think things over again. Take a breather and determine if you really want to go on with the surgery. Look and further and try to calculate the consequences of the surgery along with its benefits. Consider your finances, your work and when you’ll be to recover from surgery, and other things that might affect you in the long run. This breather is important so that you won’t have any regrets after the operation.

The most important thing to remember all throughout these steps is sticking to your surgery plan. From start to finish you should’ve plotted everything out. As you go along each step, you think of the big and small details that can have effects on your surgical plan. Remember not to stray from your main objective. Do not ask for more surgical operations, for example, than what you have to go through. Do not allow yourself to be pressured by other surgeons to undergo unnecessary procedures. Always go back to your plan.

When you take a breather, look over the surgery plan again and look out for ore holes or questions left unanswered. You should go over the details to make sure you’re following your surgery plan correctly.

How to know all your options : Affordable Cosmetic Plastic Surgery Philippines

Safety tips in Cosmetic Plastic Surgery

The things that you should consider when planning any cosmetic surgery procedure are results, quality and safety. The following article is prepared, in order to educate and guide prospective clients in cosmetic surgery on how to choose the right surgeon to attain their goal.

1. Any surgery with the main purpose of improving the physical aspect of the human body aesthetically, as well as function, is an artistic challenge for us plastic surgeons, and should be a worthwhile experience for the patient. All cosmetic procedures, minor or major, should be done according to certain standards imposed and set by local authorities, in terms of safety. Once your goal is obtained after the procedure, this brings emotional fulfillment and satisfaction to both the surgeon and the person seeking the procedure. But patient’s safety and health should be the main priority of your surgeon.

2. Inquire about your surgeon’s academic profile and formal training in the field of cosmetic/aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgery. It takes 6 to 8 years of formal training in burns, aesthetic and reconstructive surgery at an accredited institution after medical school before a physician could call himself a Plastic Surgeon.  This would include 3 to 5 years of General Surgery Program and 3 years of Burns, Cosmetic/Aesthetic and Reconstructive Plastic Surgery training. In the Philippines, there are only few training institutions with plastic surgery program that are accredited and recognized by the local association of surgeons (Philippine College of Surgeons, Philippine Board of Plastic and Philippine Association of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons). Nowadays, there are still a lot of doctors (even non doctors), though board certified, but definitely not in plastic surgery, who perform plastic procedures. With the complexity of the plastic surgery specialty, it is not enough for a physician to just undergo months or even a year of observership or training in an unaccredited establishment, in order for them to comprehend all the principles and applications in the field of plastic cosmetic surgery.

3. A surgeon, equipped with a firm foundation in Cosmetic/Aesthetic Plastic Surgery should be able to evaluate whether you are a good candidate for the surgery you are considering. He must be able to discuss with you, all possible options and its associated risks and advice you which procedure is best to attain your desired results. If there are less invasive or non-surgical procedures that could fulfill your needs, your surgeon should be knowledgeable about this and be able to tell you its advantages and disadvantages. Please be aware that there is no such thing as standard cosmetic procedure that would fulfill the desired result of all patients. Each patient should be approach and treated individually, since we have our own personal definition of beauty.

4. Do not look for the cheapest doctor, more so ,do not be deceived by unrealistic offer.  Know your surgeon’s training and academic profile. Take note of his offer, if it is safe and attainable. You could inquire from any physicians’ association, regarding the authenticity of your surgeon’s specialty or training; lastly, ask friends and previous patients regarding his credentials. Try visiting their website, if he has one. Your surgeon must be able to provide you details of his training, specialization and the number of years he underwent training.

5. Your surgeon must be able to extensively discuss with you all your possible options. Don’t hesitate to ask questions, a good plastic surgeon must be able to entertain all your inquiries regarding your desired procedure. Through this, the surgeon can establish rapport with their patients and establish a comfortable environment.

6. Don’t allow yourself to undergo liquid silicon injection at your nose, breasts, or any part of your body. The use of silicon oil injection has long been abandoned and condemned because of its unpredictable result and complications, not to mention its untoward results such as extrusion and infection. Your doctor must be able to provide you data or clinical study regarding the use and safety of the product he is trying to promote.

7. Don’t be attracted to newer procedures, drugs and prosthetics without proven long term studies with regards to result, efficacy and safety. Inquire about its approval for use by local and foreign regulatory agency such as US-FDA, Department of Health, etc. Take into consideration the quality, safety and efficacy rather than the cost.

8. Take note if your surgeon’s clinic or cosmetic center were able to meet certain standard of safety and certified by the local Health Department. But be informed, that there are certain procedures that are best done in a hospital setting.

9. Ask your surgeon regarding affiliations or membership to any local Plastic Surgery organization that is recognized by both local and international body of Plastic Surgeons. In the Philippines, only the Philippine Association of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons under the umbrella of the Philippine College of Surgeon is recognized internationally by other foreign Plastic Society. This organization usually require their members certain standard in terms of training and competence in their specialty.

As the word suggests, cosmetic surgery liverpool has to do with your appearance and looks. It is executed to improve the appearance of those parts of your body which are not properly aligned or deformed.

Cosmetic surgery became very popular after the World War I as there was an increasing need to restore the damaged body parts of the soldiers. Plastic Surgery: Is it Really Necessary?

admin asked:

Plastic surgery used to be something which people such as movie stars went in for, but not the ordinary everyday person. Nowadays, all kinds of people are thinking about having plastic surgery, after seeing all those ‘extreme makeover’ transformations which hit the news all the time. Most of us hate our imperfections – but should we really be resorting to plastic surgery to deal with them?

The popularity of plastic surgery is largely to do with the high profile it has gained through the many television shows which feature it. Plastic surgery is now available to most of us. However this popularity and availability does not necessarily mean that all of us should go ahead with it. Many of people’s perceived imperfections can actually be corrected in other ways. Avoiding surgery means that you also avoid the cost and risks involved. So if you are considering having plastic surgery, how can you find out whether it is the only option, or even the best one? Read on for some information which could help you find the answers you need.

Plastic Surgery or No Plastic Surgery?

If you hate those flaws in your appearance, and you are thinking that maybe plastic surgery is the only way to correct them, then think again. The chances are that it probably is not the only way. It is actually quite surprising to find out how many of these problems can be corrected, or treated, without plastic surgery. There are plenty of less invasive measures, which include microdermabrasion, acidic peels and Botox, as well as simple over the counter treatments.

Here, then, are the kinds of problems which can be corrected without surgery:-

• double chin

• plumpness or fullness along the line of the jaw

• fine lines on the cheeks, around the eyes, at the corners of the mouth or between the eyebrows

• fine under-eye wrinkles and dark circles under the eyes

• pigmentation flaws, discolored patches of skin, etc.

• blotchy or dry skin

However, problems which cannot be corrected other than by plastic surgery include:-

• hollow cheeks

• a deep fold (as opposed to a line) between the nose and mouth

• skin of the neck which has become very loose

• deeper wrinkles or skin which has become droopy, including ‘jowly’ skin hanging below the jaw

• deep frown lines

• puffiness around the eyes and deep circles under the eyes

• excess eyelid skin

There are other procedures in plastic surgery which many people contemplate and which we have not mentioned above. These procedures include ones such as nose jobs and breast implants. These procedures fall into the category of major surgery, which also have a great deal of emotional importance attached to them. This makes them difficult to place when it comes to deciding whether you should have them done or not. If you are considering any plastic surgery of this type, then the person to help with your decision is your plastic surgeon. Discuss your reasons for wanting surgery with them, as well as your other options, and talk it all through.

For anyone contemplating plastic surgery, no matter what the procedure, it is important firs to equip yourself with all the relevant facts. There is discomfort, and significant risk, associated with any form of surgery, whether minor or major, and you should be fully informed of what to expect and what the risks are before you commit yourself. If you still feel strongly that the only way you can achieve complete self confidence is plastic surgery, then research first. Seek out a highly recommended plastic surgeon, and go to them for help and guidance with the whole process.

Breast Surgery for Confidence and Self Esteem

jewellery asked:

Women of all ages can be emotionally unsatisfied and in discomfort when their breasts are not equal to their personal ideal. Breast shape and size is an important aspect of any woman’s appearance and when unsatisfied, it can be the cause of low self-confidence and increased concerns about physical attractiveness. Breast surgery can improve the figure and can increase confidence in social and business settings. Whether a woman wants to enhance their breasts, reshape or reduce their size, there are a number of breast surgery options that will suit any women’s needs.

Breast reduction surgery is a cosmetic procedure that provides a solution for many women who have large and shapeless breasts. It is a surgical breast reduction procedure that removes excess breast tissue, recontours the breasts and repositions the nipples, for effective results. Many women who have large breast suffer from shoulder pain, lower neck or back pain and have difficulty exercising. A breast reduction procedure minimizes these problems, enhances the posture, and helps improve your overall appearance and self-esteem. A breast reduction surgeon will work with the patient on their specific situation to provide them with an appropriate solution to oversized breasts.

A popular cosmetic breast surgery for women is a breast augmentation procedure. Breast implants are frequently requested by women who either never developed what they considered enough breast or women who after pregnancy found their breasts disappeared. Breast implant surgery enhances the overall appearance of the figure by highlighting breast size and providing a more shapely body contour. Because silicone breast implants vary in shape and size a breast augmentation surgeon can provide custom shaping that suits the patients figure.
